Reconstructive Services

Skin Cancer Reconstruction:

Skin cancer is very common and the incidence is growing every year as our population ages. Your dermatologist may have found and is planning to remove a skin cancer on your face using a technique known as Mohs surgery. The defect left behind after the cancer is removed usually requires a surgical closure to produce the least visible scar and prevent distortion of certain vital structures such as the nose, lips, cheeks, eyelids, forehead, and ears. Dr. Bader has advanced training in repairing defects following Mohs surgery. He will perform the necessary skin flaps, skin grafts and cartilage/bone grafts to restore the natural form and function of the facial structures involved while minimizing the appearance of scars. These procedures are fully covered by health insurance plans.

Facial Paralysis:

Facial paralysis, sometimes called Bell’s palsy, is a serious condition that can dramatically affect a person’s quality of life. A paralyzed face can result from cancer, stroke, surgery, trauma, and from viral infections of the facial nerve. There are serious complications that can arise from facial paralysis that can include blindness if it is not addressed in a timely manner. Dr. Bader has a special interest in treating the paralyzed face using the latest advances in surgical and non-surgical therapy. Even if you have been living with a paralyzed face for years, please call Dr. Bader today to see how he can help improve the appearance and function of your face. Treatments for facial paralysis are usually covered by health insurance plans.

Broken Facial Bones:

Dr. Bader treats fractures of all facial bones. The nose is the most commonly fractured facial bone. Many people are not aware or not sure if they have a broken nose and x-rays can be misleading for these fractures. Dr. Bader will perform a thorough exam of your nose to determine if it has been broken and whether any surgery is necessary to repair the fracture. If the shape of your nose was significantly altered or you are experiencing trouble breathing through your nose you may be a candidate for surgery, even if your injury was many years ago.

Dr. Bader also repairs fractures of the jaw (mandible), cheeks (maxilla, zygoma), eye sockets (orbit), and forehead (frontal bone). If you have been diagnosed with a fracture or think you may have one, please call Dr. Bader’s office today to schedule a visit as soon as possible.

Scar Improvement:

Just about everyone has a scar and a story to go along with the scar. Some facial scars are unsightly while others effect the function of facial structures such as the eyelids, nose, and lips. Call Dr. Bader today to schedule a consultation to discuss how he may be able to improve your scar. He will employ proven surgical and non-surgical methods to improve the appearance of scars of any age or complexity.
